John Foster has been an environmentalist since the 1970s.
He has worked in education, public administration and environmental-social research, and has taught philosophy to undergraduates and school students (Year 6 to Sixth Form) for the past 25 years. He remains an honorary Teaching Fellow in Philosophy at Lancaster University.

Much of his environmental-political writing over the past decade explored increasingly uncomfortable truths for the think-tank Green House, of which he was a member until recently. This new website seeks to keep such exploration in the public domain as the truth becomes steadily even less comfortable.
John is married with three grown-up children and three grandsons. He lives in the North Cumbrian hills where he enjoys walking and thinking (and can still sometimes do both at once).
